Puerta Vieja is a Mexican and seafood restaurant at Km 6.3 of the Transpeninsular Highway in Cabo Bello, on the corridor side of Cabo San Lucas and a few minutes from the marina. It opened on 1 December 2003 and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, on a terrace that looks across the Sea of Cortez to the Arch of Cabo San Lucas. The menu mixes Mexican cooking, seafood and international plates: chilaquiles, machaca and omelettes in the morning, Baja-style tacos, ceviches and oysters at lunch, and fine cuts, handmade pastas and lobster at dinner. Dinner mains run from about 450 to 995 pesos, with Mexican VAT included in every price. Residents of Baja California Sur get 10% off the bill when they show a local ID.
The name comes from the hand-carved wooden doors from India, made 163 years ago, that greet guests at the entrance, and the dining room keeps a classic décor. Manuel Bobadilla, the founding director and owner, has led the organization and its events since the start, and executive chef Andrea Romo now runs the kitchen, which combines Mexican flavors, international cooking and fresh seafood. Piano and violin players perform live at breakfast and dinner. On the fourth floor, Puerta Cuatro Rooftop is a bar and nightlife space with cocktails, DJs and music, open Wednesday to Monday from 5 PM until late. The building also holds a wine cellar, two event terraces for up to 100 and 80 guests, and Puerta Vieja Boutique Hotel, with ten sea-view rooms.
