A 1999 commission
The Sánchez-Navarro family hired Jack Nicklaus in 1999 to design a public course; the Los Cabos golf guide describes its debut as a resort venue.

Golf · Tourist Corridor, Los Cabos
A private Jack Nicklaus design whose 18 holes swing between the Sea of Cortez and two desert canyons.
Coast and canyon golf
El Dorado is the golf heart of a 520-acre, members-only Discovery Land Company community with more than two miles of coastline. Its par-72 layout opened in 1999 and is played today by members and the guests they invite.
Nicklaus Design counts six oceanfront holes and twelve in two canyons. Read against the club's site plans, the canyon stretch covers the 2nd to the 8th and the 10th to the 14th, north of the Transpeninsular Highway; the 1st, the 9th and the closing run from 15 to 18 play along the Sea of Cortez.

Discovery Land Company partnered with the family and took the club private. It is now one of Discovery's more than 35 members-only communities worldwide.

With Nicklaus, Discovery reversed the two nines, rebuilt the greens and moved four beachside holes to free space for 84 homesites, so some older descriptions number the holes differently.

Jack Nicklaus designed it, and it opened in 1999. He later worked with Discovery Land Company on changes that reversed the two nines, rebuilt the greens and moved four holes away from the beach.
The Los Cabos golf guide names the short par-3 16th, a ledge green above the beach where the onshore breeze punishes a mishit. The downhill par-5 18th then closes with a wide view of the sea.
Yes. The club's golf gallery describes a practice tee with professional instruction available every day; it does not publish the size of the range or of any short-game area.
