Cabo Airport Transportation: 11 Transfer Options

Shared shuttles, private SUVs, vans and group transfers from SJD, compared by service type, coverage and booking path.

Updated October 2026 · Curated by the What’s In Cabo team

Cabo airport transportation ranges from shared shuttles to private SUVs, vans, limousines and group vehicles. Prebook before flying, then compare whether service is shared or private, the areas covered, vehicle capacity, accessibility needs and pickup instructions. The eleven options below link to company details and direct booking paths for transfers from Los Cabos International Airport to hotels, villas and other regional destinations.

Arriving at SJD is easier when the ride is decided before the flight. Shared shuttles can suit solo travelers or couples watching cost, while private vehicles give families, groups and travelers with extra luggage a direct pickup plan.

This guide compares published Los Cabos operators by the services they state, the areas they cover and the booking path available. Rates, vehicle availability, accessibility equipment, child seats and pickup instructions can change, so confirm the final details directly before travel.

How we choose: We included published transportation operators with live company pages, usable listing content, operator-owned media and a direct contact or booking path. Ordering favors breadth of stated service, clarity of booking and traveler fit. Live rates, vehicle availability and pickup instructions must be confirmed before travel. Updated October 2026.

Arriving at SJD: what to expect

Checked on October 10, 2026 against the sources listed at the end of this section: government and airport pages where they exist, and each company’s own site for its prices. Rules and prices change, so confirm before you fly.

At Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), Terminal 2 handles international flights only and Terminal 1 handles all domestic flights and some international ones, according to GAP, the airport operator. On an international arrival at Terminal 2 the walk out, as Cabo Transfers describes it, goes: immigration, baggage claim, customs, a hall of sales desks, and then outside, where pre-booked drivers wait.

Four ways to leave the airport, and where Uber fits

Its Los Cabos page lists one ground-transportation provider, Cabo Airport Marketing, in the arrivals areas of both terminals.Arriving without a reservation
Rental carAbout 460–875 MXN a day at the counter for an economy car with liability insurance (Mex, Avis, Alamo). Avis prepaid was 2,195 MXN for the week; Cactus quoted 315 USD for the week with insurance and taxes. Quotes for November 10–17, 2026.Rental desks are in the arrivals areas. Rental companies state that third-party liability cover is required in Mexico, and an advertised rate may leave it out: Alamo showed 3,291 MXN for the week, and 6,119 MXN once its cheapest package with liability was added.Exploring beyond your hotel zone
UberNo set fare. Uber publishes past-month UberX averages to SJD of MX$240 from San José del Cabo and MX$918 from Cabo San Lucas, not guaranteed prices. The U.S. Consulate General in Tijuana says rideshare apps can drop passengers off at SJD but may not pick them up there. Mexico’s transport ministry says Uber is not authorized to operate inside airports.Getting dropped off for your flight home, per the U.S. Consulate

Prices come from each company’s own rate page or booking engine, read on October 10, 2026; engine quotes are for November 10, 2026. Private transfers show the range of the cheapest one-way fare at nine of the 11 companies we list: lowest at DanysCabo and Airport Cabo Limo, before the 5–6% they add at online checkout, and highest at Transcabo, for a 10-seat van. Shared-shuttle seats are sold by two companies, Cabo Transfers and Transcabo; Transcabo’s site also advertises seats “from $16”, but its booking engine quoted 20 to 26. Immigration and customs

There is no paper tourist card to fill in on the plane: Mexico’s immigration institute (INM) no longer issues the paper FMM to air arrivals and stamps your passport instead. Tourists over 18 travelling without minors, on an ordinary electronic passport valid for more than 180 days from the United States, Canada or another country on INM’s list, can use the automated gates at SJD (in Terminal 2, according to Mexico’s foreign ministry). The gate prints a ticket with a QR code: INM says you must scan it to download your digital FMM and keep it for your departure.

Mexico’s national customs rule, as its customs agency (ANAM) publishes it, is that air passengers fill in a declaration, hand it to customs staff and press the “fiscal traffic light”, an automated selection that decides whether your bags are inspected. ANAM lists the airport terminals that use a newer model with “nothing to declare” and “self-declaration” lanes; Los Cabos is not on that list, which was last updated in September 2024.

Each passenger may bring goods worth up to 500 USD beyond personal baggage duty-free, with a receipt to show the value. Alcohol does not count toward that allowance: travelers over 18 may bring up to three liters of alcoholic beverages and six liters of wine as personal baggage.

The hall of desks after customs

After customs, the two transfer companies quoted here describe a hall of sales desks before the exit. GAP lists fifteen “tourist services” desks across the arrivals areas of the two terminals, among them resort brands such as Villas del Palmar, Pueblo Bonito and Vidanta. Cabo Transfers calls the stretch the “Time Share Sales Area” and tells its customers that representatives there may claim to work for the airport or for their transportation company; All Ways Cabo tells its customers the same.

Both tell customers to keep walking without stopping; Cabo Transfers adds that you should not show your voucher to anyone inside the terminal. Both meet their customers outside, at a numbered tent or canopy, so check which one your confirmation names. If you do sign a timeshare contract, Mexico’s consumer agency (Profeco) says you can cancel it within five business days.

Authorized airport taxis

GAP’s general FAQ for its airports says taxi fares are regulated and depend on the zone you are going to. Its ground-transportation page for Los Cabos lists one provider, Cabo Airport Marketing, in the Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 arrivals areas, open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM; it does not say what that desk sells.

We found no fare table on GAP’s Los Cabos pages or on the transport ministry’s site, so we do not print a taxi price: confirm the fare to your zone before you pay. The U.S. Consulate General in Tijuana advises using clearly identifiable taxis, with numbering and visible license plates, when leaving the airport.

Uber at SJD: what the authorities say

The U.S. Consulate General in Tijuana states that rideshare apps such as Uber can drop passengers off at the San José del Cabo airport but are not allowed to pick them up there (security alert of June 2, 2026). Mexico’s transport ministry (SICT) said on March 11, 2026 that Uber is not authorized to provide services inside the perimeter of Mexico City’s airport “and other airports”, and recommended the authorized airport taxis; the statement does not name Los Cabos.

Uber’s own page for SJD still describes airport pickups, so Uber’s website and the authorities’ statements do not match. For the ride out of the airport, plan on one of the other four options. For the trip back, the U.S. Consulate says rideshare apps can drop passengers off at SJD; SICT said in October 2025 that app-based services to and from airports hold no federal authorization.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I prebook airport transportation in Cabo?

Yes. Booking before the flight lets you compare shared and private service, choose the right vehicle capacity and receive pickup instructions before landing. Keep the confirmation available offline in case mobile service is limited at arrival.

What is the difference between a shared shuttle and a private transfer?

A shared shuttle may carry travelers from other reservations and can make multiple hotel stops. A private transfer is reserved for your party and follows the confirmed itinerary. Compare the total price, expected stops, luggage allowance and cancellation terms before choosing.

How long does an SJD airport transfer take?

Transfer time varies with the destination, traffic, terminal pickup process and any shared-shuttle stops. Ask the operator for a current estimate based on your hotel or villa instead of relying on one fixed time for all Los Cabos routes.

Can I request a child seat or accessible vehicle?

Availability depends on the operator and the exact equipment required. Request the child seat or accessibility setup in writing before booking, confirm that it fits the traveler, and reconfirm it in the final pickup instructions.

What details should I send to a Cabo transfer operator?

Send the airline, flight number, arrival terminal, landing time, hotel or villa name and address, passenger count, luggage count and return-flight details. Also list any child seat, accessibility equipment or planned stop that affects the vehicle or route.
